Work Placement .... Review

Sorry I have not blogged in a while, I've been playing catch up after having 2 weeks off for Easter which wasn't a break as I completed a 2 week placement at Zandra Rhodes studio and then headed straight back in to college afterwards. I've been super busy trying to create my current collection that I haven't had time to sit down and reflect and review my work placement.

Firstly I just want to thank everyone at the Zandra Rhodes studio for being so kind and welcoming!
It was great to get a in sight in to the industry and of the workings in such a iconic designer.
The place was floor to ceiling in boxes of archive garments that I would of LOVED to have a look through....but I didn't quite get to do that. Although I did get to handle the famous dress worn by Princess Diana, such a beautiful dress for a beautiful woman.

My daily roles were dressing and styling mannequins for photographers, making head pieces and jewellery to be sold, organising and sorting garments that had to be handled with the greatest of care.

The print room was absolutely amazing! There was racks and racks of screens, all the screens that have ever been made have been kept with the original designs on. And the ruler stick technique to repeat print was new to me but even that was amazing, with the wall lined with the rulers.

It was a very relaxed environment and very comfortable to fit in the working environment, although I didn't get the opportunity to meet Zandra Rhodes herself and think that would have been a completely different experience,  I would definitely recommend working here and would repeat it myself.
